Last Night we did a DYP - we had a pretty good turnout and some new players that really impressed too! The draw was relatively even, there were a bunch of solid teams and a lot of good games. Some highlights: Carlos blocked really well through out each match I saw him play, including when he put me on ice for a few games. Chris has added some more really consistent passes into his 5 bar series, Simon commented after a match about how solid Chris was passing - I think it is more of just becoming consistent on passes that would sometimes work before. Chad and Katy pulled off one win in there best of 3 against Sweet Christian Dunn and Des. Also Katy scored really well in a few other matches and I dont' think they were ever really outplayed too bad, which is really good to see. Mike and Daniel pulled off the win in the second DYP, they had to double dip Travis and Carlos. Didn't see the match but winning twice strait is always really hard. Mike also said he was really tired and burnt out earlier, it takes a real champion to fight through that and come out on top. Daniel beat me in singles in a pick up game earlier in the night, which I wouldn't normally comment on except that I was giving it 100% essentially but just couldn't find a way to win. Christof played really great as my partner, scoring goals at clutch times and blocking well. We even switched for most of the match against Roger and Brian, I think they would have beat us if it wasn't for that. Christof scored well and blocked Rogers 5 bar well too. Brian cleared the ball pretty much every time and scored a few goals too, both Carlos and Brian can really smoke the ball so you are always kept on your toes. Simon and Cam beat Christian and Des twice, including a meat ball game in the A side. Cam has jumped up pretty far in points and Simon is closing in on Christian for second place in points. Next Week: We will try to do the "Team Event" with 4 person teams. I'll run it down quickly for a reminder. We randomly draw everyone onto teams, but draw an equal amount of pro's and am's onto each team if we can make it work out evenly. When teams play each other there will be 4 singles games and 4 doubles games. A few adjustments from last time though, instead of doing double elimination we will do round robin. This will mean that teams won't have to wait as long for matches because you won't have to sit in king seat and wait for the other teams to catch up to you. |

Then the next week after that we will be doing another BYP with a catch. This time no one who has won a BYP can partner with anyone else that has won a BYP. Ya it is impossible to gather points from a team event. If we have 14, 18, 22, or 26 players we will not be able to do the team event. If we have any other number it will work out just fine. If we are stuck having a 3 person team, one player will have to play twice in singles. It can not be the same person in every match, so the player that plays twice has to be rotated each time... |

Ya IMO Tobin "The Myszczyszyn Magician" would be the best player that hasn't won a BYP. Carey would also be in that discussion clearly though. |
