The Pro/Am started tonight, 32 players registered including some out of town Masters! Venue is looking good, I should be able to get a picture up tomorrow!

For now results can be viewed on www.netfoos.com under the Edmonton listing, but we'll probably be using FAST to run the tournament by the time the Thursday night DYP starts.

Will have you decided whether or not you're adding in any extra events for Friday? If so what events and what time? Thanks

Do you have 72 players registered for singles?

Author: Will Reply #4 Posted: Apr 13 2011 5:34PM

I'm not sure which events everyone is planning on playing in. I have over 85 registrations now.

Will,did you get my email?

I was talking with Ang about this last night

If there are 77 players in singles I assume there will be 11 groups of seven? (11 tables)

If thats the case each group gets one table and each table will get 21 matches played on it. With an average time of 30 min per match (getting to the table, checking sides, wrapping up, playing the match, unwrapping, reporting the match ect.) that works out to just over 10 hours needed to complete the round robin in singles and probably another 4 1/2 hours for the double elimination round based on a 16 chart.

I meant 4 1/2 hours on a 32 chart. I'm guessing top three from each group advance?

Simon, without going into too many details, it would work out similar to that. Come over to my computer when you are here in the venue and I'll show you my spread sheet that has anywhere from 50-140 players on it. The group size shrinks as the player number increases. The total matches in the group stage will be 120 or less. We might have to finish the group stage in the morning. Also I'll adjust the amount of players that qualify based on the amount of registered players. So we'll just play it by ear and I'll announce the group sizes and number of players per group that will qualify.

I just wanted to bring it up to remind everyone to be ready to play there matches and try to help eliminate recalls. Also to start your match as soon as it's called and report the results right away so another match can be called.

Simon I emailed you the list showing the breakdown of how many players/group based on.
