Wish I could have made it, but that looks like a solid team. You should do well!

Author: S. Edwards Reply #2 Posted: May 25 2012 12:57PM

Are you going to St Louis Darcy?

Author: Linda Reply #7 Posted: May 25 2012 3:42PM

Sorry to hear you can't make it Darcy.

Question....who's Tim? Another Edmonton player?

Also, Nate Porat is coming from Calgary too...so 7 member team???

Author: Will Reply #8 Posted: May 25 2012 3:55PM

Ooops. I told Simon that it was Tim and Linda coming from Calgary, but it is in fact Nate and Linda from Calgary. My bad.

Author: Linda Reply #9 Posted: May 25 2012 4:01PM

LOL. For a second I thought perhaps you'd found us a ringer or something no one has ever heard of.

Looking forward to it. Expert Division?

What's the hotel room mate situations??

Author: S. Edwards Reply #11 Posted: May 25 2012 5:52PM

Author: RezaREX Reply #12 Posted: May 26 2012 10:27AM

Those going from BC are also eligible to play for Alberta in the NA cup and should also be candidates if we want to field the best team possible. Let's bring home another championship!!!

Author: S. Edwards Reply #13 Posted: May 26 2012 11:44PM

Looking at the rules, BC could also play for Washington.

Author: Will Reply #14 Posted: May 27 2012 2:38PM

Anyone that wants to can start a team... provinces/states can have more than one team.

I'm playing on Simon's team..

Author: S. Edwards Reply #15 Posted: May 27 2012 6:51PM

I think if we have six from Alberta then thats the six that form the team. I'm all for having a strong team, but I think it would suck to have to bench someone from Alberta for a stronger player from another province.

I don't want this to be called "Simon's" team. I am trying to get players together for "Team Alberta"

So
Ben, Linda, Christian, Nate do you want to play on "Team Alberta"? or "Team Britertachewan"?

Author: Will Reply #16 Posted: May 27 2012 7:15PM

That makes sense, I just didn't want to be a part of the decision making process for how the team is picked. If we have 6 from Alberta then it makes sense to use that as our team.

Author: RezaREX Reply #17 Posted: May 27 2012 7:23PM

When we started talking about this team amongst those who were going (I believe Simon had left the convo and wasn't planning on attending) we were in favour of trying to get players from other provinces on Team Alberta and had even emailed Mary about it as it was looked as more of a Canadian or at least Western Canadian team as apposed to just provinces. Since that was my mentality going in I would vote to send the strongest team possible as I would hope we would want to do with the World Cup. I would hope that a victory could bring more media exposure and we can capitalize on getting back in the spotlight at least a bit even if it wasn't on the same level. Yes, it would suck to have someone from Alberta not play but it would suck just as much if not more if a few from BC or Sask couldn't play at all especially if they would give us a better chance at victory. I guess it all depends if you want to compete as a province or as western Canada.

Yeah, I know I wasn't part of that conversation, this is the first I heard of it. One thing to remember we are playing in Expert division. I assume you are advocating for Moya (maybe I'm wrong). If we have a pro on the team then we have to play open. Do pro master women get to play in expert division?

Author: Linda Reply #19 Posted: May 27 2012 8:07PM

I wasn't aware that players from BC could play with AB?

I had always thought that the way IFP had it set up was meant to be a State/Province tourney first. To me, a Team Alberta approach supersedes a "stronger"/"weaker" team (unless the issue is with too many players from AB). Plus, I'd hate to be the one getting bumped in favour of someone else lol

If this was a Nations Cup instead of a State/Province thing, then I would agree with fielding the strongest possible team, even if that means I don't get to play.

Just my 2 cents...

Author: RezaREX Reply #20 Posted: May 27 2012 10:24PM

The last time we had discussed the team or at least the last discussion I had been involved with the team was when we had 5 confirmed players and the team was going to be Christian, Will, Ben, Moya, Darcy and Eric Dunn was a possibility. Sure I was mostly talking about Moya above because she is confirmed to go and was expecting to play on the team but also I meant Eric, Tuan, Jeff etc...I can forward you the conversation Simon as I checked and you had left like immediately before it was brought up. While I see your point in keeping it within Alberta I think it would be pretty shitty to cut someone who had booked expecting to be on the team.

Author: S. Edwards Reply #21 Posted: May 27 2012 10:45PM

Does Moya qualify to play on the Alberta team? I mean the way I read the rules it states

Team member lives in one state and has no local tournament to attend. The player only plays in neighboring state for local events.

Moya hasn't played in an Alberta Tournament in probably 8 - 10 years. Yes she played in one club event(we all know how that went) and has played in one or two weekly DYPs

Eric, Tuan, Craig, Dave ect have all played in our major tournaments. Truth is, moya plays more in Washington than Alberta. She might not even qualify as a potential player.

I emailed Mary for clarification.

Looks like we are going with all Alberta players for the NA cup. Nate is on flag duty. Anyone want to find some team shirts?

Author: Will Reply #23 Posted: Jun 4 2012 3:24PM

I'll do jerseys. We're going blue and white for this!

I'll send out an email to the team members, but does anyone want to get track pants or jackets too?

Author: Linda Reply #24 Posted: Jun 4 2012 3:59PM

I'd say no on the track pants. But maybe on the jacket...depending on how much it all costs.

Yellow and Blue are AB colours...think it might be too tacky?

Author: Will Reply #25 Posted: Jun 4 2012 4:02PM

I think yellow and blue would be hard to obtain in the time frame we have... I can find a sportswear company that stocks blue and white, but I'm not so sure about Yellow and Blue. We could put the "Alberta" on the back in Yellow...

Anyone (whether on the team or not) have any suggestions for a logo for the front of the Jersey? If someone wants to design something send it to my email will_stranks@hotmail.com

Author: Will Reply #26 Posted: Jun 4 2012 4:05PM

We could maybe use the jersey from the LA Galaxy.. just place an order for that style/color and use our logo instead?

Author: Will Reply #27 Posted: Jun 4 2012 4:06PM

Also I'd rather have pants than a jacket - I'll email a quote out to the team once I recieve it.

Author: Linda Reply #28 Posted: Jun 4 2012 4:50PM

LA Galaxy jersey colours are nice. Wouldn't mind the blue one of theirs at all.

I'm not artistic at all....but perhaps someone could modify the Galaxy Logo. Or modifiy something like this??

Author: Will Reply #29 Posted: Jun 4 2012 4:57PM

Chris Kerr has agreed to help design us a logo. He's done a lot of graphic design for me before, and it always looks amazing (no pressure bud).

Author: S. Edwards Reply #30 Posted: Jun 4 2012 7:18PM

Plus 1 for the galaxy jersey
