Go Canada!

Author: Will Reply #1 Posted: Aug 30 2012 1:24PM

COOL!!! Todd Loffredo is signed up for Goalie Wars! I havn't seen that before.

With Eric Dunn, Ryan Moore, Justin Shaw, Brandon Moreland, Simon and Barry... Lots of strong goalie war competition!

Todd wins GW's! I wish I could have watched the final vs Ryan.

Author: Superfly Reply #4 Posted: Aug 30 2012 7:26PM

Yeah, that would have been a great one to watch indeed ... I suspect Todd's Defence carried the day.

Author: perennial underdog Reply #5 Posted: Aug 30 2012 10:13PM

A good showing by Simon Edwards! In being among the top 6,you're in very good company.

Author: Will Reply #6 Posted: Aug 30 2012 10:14PM

His pull shot isn't terrible either.

Tony Spredeman and Kevin Walker are OUT of the Open DYP? There must be some mistake there, no way they lost twice to teams like that

Author: tony Reply #7 Posted: Aug 31 2012 11:33AM

Why would you be surprised that they lost? they're not supermen... even pro-masters and world champions lose sometimes. besides neither is a goalie. and defence is bigger in a dyp than in regular doubles and definitely underrated in foosball.

Author: tony Reply #8 Posted: Aug 31 2012 11:41AM

nice result Willick. and nice to see Shin at a major.

Author: Sniff Reply #9 Posted: Aug 31 2012 1:07PM

Yea its Robbies first. Should be interesting/exciting. Wish I could witness the frustration he brings on others.

hahaha.

Author: Sniff Reply #10 Posted: Aug 31 2012 1:12PM

Tony/Kevin lost to Rob Mares and Justin Shaw, not really anything crazy. Both are great players who tour heavily.

Author: Superfly Reply #11 Posted: Aug 31 2012 3:03PM

Robbie's startin' his run in AM Singles ...

Author: Sniff Reply #12 Posted: Aug 31 2012 6:08PM

haha. yea he's doing well, beat franois v out of quebec who is a pretty strong young up n comer. Now he's sitting 5/6 on losers side, has a bit of a wait. I'm curious how his 3 bar is holding up.

Author: Sniff Reply #13 Posted: Aug 31 2012 6:10PM

He's ripping it in expert singles too. hahahaha.

Now he has to play my old friend chad who has a similar 5 to tuans, i wonder how he will do.

Author: Superfly Reply #14 Posted: Aug 31 2012 6:39PM

Paul Smith, the up n' coming kid seeded #1 in Expert Doubles with 2299 points lost to Jesse Brust with 600 points ???

I'm guessing forfeit ...

Tuan's second seed and battling for winner of his group.

Author: Sniff Reply #15 Posted: Aug 31 2012 7:07PM

yea, the dude is a giant, like 6'4.

Author: Sniff Reply #16 Posted: Aug 31 2012 7:10PM

looks like chad beat robbie.

Doesn't seem like a very strong field, lots of players, but lot's of nobodies. If tuan is playing like he does at home, he should be good to go. Lantzy, Francois, and Chris Lancaster are all solid players to give him a run for his money. Chad too. Rob Shin and Robbie Cook out of Portland can also make a final run for it.

Author: Superfly Reply #17 Posted: Aug 31 2012 7:22PM

After a nearly 50 minute battle against Roger Demers ... Tuan takes his bracket !

Author: Superfly Reply #18 Posted: Aug 31 2012 7:26PM

Wow, they have him playing right away ... Jeff Stepp.

Author: .Garry Reply #19 Posted: Aug 31 2012 7:52PM

Nhu is playing Rico in mixed on 1 of the live streams now

Author: .Garry Reply #20 Posted: Aug 31 2012 8:13PM

Ouch

Justin is playing Todd in mixed

Author: S. Edwards Reply #21 Posted: Aug 31 2012 8:13PM

Paul Smith didn't forfeit he got beat by the 600 point beginner and then by me. So you know he was playing bad! He was a monster in hdcp doubles.

Author: Superfly Reply #22 Posted: Aug 31 2012 9:15PM

That 600 point beginner musta softened him up for you Simon .

Author: perennial underdog Reply #23 Posted: Aug 31 2012 10:44PM

Prediction:Tuan wins expert singles.

Author: tony Reply #24 Posted: Sep 1 2012 2:10PM

Bold prediction. He has to beat an amateur (Ross), a 50 something old timer goalie (Paul), and another 50 something old timer goalie (Randy). Pretty soft line-up, I'd hope he can finish. Unless the latter 2 have improved 300% i'd say it was his to lose.

Author: tony Reply #25 Posted: Sep 1 2012 2:14PM

The better prediction is Linda and Jennifer to win WED.

Author: Superfly Reply #26 Posted: Sep 1 2012 2:33PM

If he gets Kings Seat he could play one of 7 players ...

Tuan 2195/2036 Singles/Doubles Points
EXPERT

3 Ross Lantzy 1800/1926 Singles/Doubles Points
EXPERT

5/6 PAUL BIQUET 1914/1864 Singles/Doubles Points
EXPERT

5/6 RANDY PRICE 1930/2567 Singles/Doubles Points
PRO

7/8 JEFF STEPP 1508/1616 Singles/Doubles Points
EXPERT

7/8 SCOTT OHARE 2116/2148 Singles/Doubles Points
EXPERT

7/8 CHAD LOESSBERG 1705/1621 Singles/Doubles Points
EXPERT

7/8 SCOTT RAMSEY 2077/2299 Singles/Doubles Points
EXPERT

Author: Will Reply #27 Posted: Sep 1 2012 3:38PM

Ross is a high expert in singles and a Pro in doubles, as well as having won multiple expert titles already he has Am World Championships. He is a very good player.

Go Tuan!

Author: S. Edwards Reply #28 Posted: Sep 1 2012 3:57PM

If you know anything about IFP then you know points don't mean a fricken thing. Tuan almost lost to piquet and scored a left handed scoop from his two bar.

Author: Superfly Reply #29 Posted: Sep 1 2012 3:59PM

Awesome match between Robbie/Tuan and Rue/Yore table 2 ... and yes ... points mean a lot. They determine what rank you are .

Author: tony Reply #30 Posted: Sep 1 2012 6:19PM

Points are a gauge. Not always accurate but losing and almost aren't nearly quite the same thing now are they? Points could also mean you play lots or tour lots or..track

I stand by my original post minus the error on Ross' rank. Last time I saw him play he was an amateur (2011 Bart 0) and nothing personal ,,but I don't think he's a high expert or a pro in doubles I don't what Mary's point say. Go Supraboy!!!!

Author: Superfly Reply #31 Posted: Sep 1 2012 10:51PM

7/8 SCOTT OHARE 2116/2148 Singles/Doubles Points EXPERT

And my points theory holds true, he was the highest ranking person of the 7 ... now it is Tuan's to lose.

BTW, the Supra is long gone. Man they sure like to hold out on playing Amateur, I think Robbie is waiting 2 days to play again lol.

Author: spinner Reply #32 Posted: Sep 2 2012 5:56AM

It's 545 am here and havent slept yet, all those friggin coffees!!!

Author: tony Reply #33 Posted: Sep 2 2012 11:43AM

yeah yeah suck it up quit making excuses and win already. you're never gonna find an easier road to a singles title than this weekend was.

Author: Superfly Reply #34 Posted: Sep 2 2012 12:23PM

"semi finals is on monday" ... are you sure about that Tuano? They have Expert finals pencilled in at 4 pm Sunday.

Author: Sniff Reply #35 Posted: Sep 2 2012 3:08PM

Good Luck to all you guys, rip it up and play your best.

I missed the dubs match, do they still cache all the streamed matches for later viewing?

Author: Will Reply #36 Posted: Sep 2 2012 4:47PM

Ben just beat Johnny Horton, cool!

Author: Sniff Reply #37 Posted: Sep 2 2012 5:55PM

Author: Superfly Reply #41 Posted: Sep 3 2012 3:05AM

Yeah, saw the final Tuan ... definitely you needed more sleep. Is Robbie stuck there for Am Singles ... looks like it.

Did anyone see the Open Singles Finals ... that was crazy bad-ass Frederico at the end !!! Kinda feel bad for Yore and Rue lol.

Author: Superfly Reply #42 Posted: Sep 3 2012 4:42AM

"Open Singles Finals" should read Open Doubles Finals ... oops .

Author: tony Reply #43 Posted: Sep 3 2012 12:05PM

gO linDA!

Author: tony Reply #44 Posted: Sep 3 2012 12:10PM

go SHin lol

Author: Nelson Reply #45 Posted: Sep 3 2012 2:51PM

Nice last pass there Shin lol. Congrats on the title.

Author: Superfly Reply #46 Posted: Sep 3 2012 2:53PM

It looks like Robbie got the Double Dip ... went to last game last ball. But it was 4 - 4 ... don't you have to win by 2 in a Finals match ... even if it is Amateur Singles?

Anyways ... great job Tuan and Robbie !!!

Author: van_can_foos Reply #47 Posted: Sep 3 2012 4:11PM

Well done Robbie & Tuan!

Author: van_can_foos Reply #48 Posted: Sep 3 2012 4:11PM

Author: Superfly Reply #52 Posted: Sep 3 2012 11:07PM

LoL Tuan ... I see you and Robbie sitting in the stands watching Open Singles ... you didn't catch an early flight haha.

Author: Superfly Reply #53 Posted: Sep 4 2012 1:53AM

Frederico takes it second set, last game. Ryan won 5 out of 6 games only to lose after trash talking Rico before the match and after the first set.

You could tell Freddy was giving his "B" game during most of the match and Ryan knew it ... he even mentioned to Freddy ... "I want you to give me your best game possible" ... after the first set.

Lesson to be learned ... if you're winning 5/6 games against anyone, especially Frederico ... don't go asking for their best game.

Ryan played great but was visibly upset losing after being so dominant through out most of the match. Just for good measure ... Freddy junked in the last ball and gave a loud "AWE" at the end.

Author: spinner Reply #54 Posted: Sep 4 2012 1:54AM

No... They wanted extra 900 and also changing fee. Robbie on cloud nine right now.. hahaha Told you guys he was gonna win and wasnt gonna be pretty!

Author: tony Reply #55 Posted: Sep 4 2012 9:05AM

Rico is the best. An extra half step above the others I think. I think only he could double dip to win OD and OM. And now that his son's playing I bet he stays atop his perch for quite some time. Speaking of double dipping... congrats Shin

Author: Sniff Reply #56 Posted: Sep 4 2012 1:09PM

Apparently he's retiring?

Author: dfnder Reply #57 Posted: Sep 4 2012 1:42PM

Grats to Robbie and Tuan and the rest of the Canadians who did well!! Awesome

Author: perennial underdog Reply #58 Posted: Sep 4 2012 7:07PM

First, congrats to Tuan. You may have got second in singles but out of a field of,I think, 130,that's pretty darn good. You're a good foosballer,Tuan.
Moreover,as to Fredrico and his style of play. All of what i am going to say,to be sure, has been said before.Nonetheless,I think it needs to be said again. He truly is an anomaly.I mean,I have studied alot of video of Fredrico's matches and certain things reveal themselves each time.

One,as a truly great player,he has the unfailing ability to raise the level of his game at will.In all the matches I have seen him play in,this is without exception.Even more, his ability is such that,if his fancy is that he feels like toying with you,I mean for his own amusement, then that's what he will do!I know, this sounds like I am mythologizing.Honestly,I would rather not say these things.I have not liked Belgians since Garry and I won the warm up tournament in Dallas a lifetime ago and the then Belgian Champion walked up to me and asked me to partner up in open
doubles.I said,"I have a partner, and you know this." He persisted and I then revealed my legendary charm.I haven't like those bastards since.

In the end, well done Tuan and Fredrico is not of this world.
